Glenn Hauser è un noto DXer degli USA, conosciuto a livello internazionale. ** ARGENTINA [non]. 9455, Tue Jan 13 at 2302, WRMI with RAE relay in
Portuguese already underway in `Atualidade DX` pgm, again with
suspiciously old ``news``-- 11905 SLBC off air, but still 11750;
Manuel Méndez, Spain, logs of Denmark on 5970, 1440, 25800; Norway
5895, Tajikistan 4765, which might pass as current but get this:
Vanuatu on 3 x 3945, 11835!!! That`s been fixed years ago. Then an
admittedly Oct 22 to Mar 23 schedule for Spain from Glenn Hauser!!!
Anything correct there now is purely coincidental; then Malawi not on
SW but FM as I tuned out. Arnaldo Slaen is always credited as provider
of the DX news, altho I did not hear open or close this week
mentioning him. I`m notifying him directly about this. So is RAE
sending out 3+ year old programs, or is just letting WRMI play 3+
year-old files week after week? I`ve looked before and look again at
the files in WRMI server and do not find anything old or new from RAE,
so they must be getting them somehow else; or with unrecognizable
filenames. In any event, `Don`t You Believe` any DX `news` from RAE;

** BRAZIL. 6180, Sat Jan 10 at 0757, S8/S9 of dead air; 11780 starts
music at 0758 and then // also on stronger 6180. So RNA apparently
just starting up in the morning (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 6180, Mon Jan 12 at 0753, tokEnglish from RNA underway
about a singer from Belém do Pará. 0754 switch to Spanish with heavy
Brasilian accent, singer named Pinduca? S9+20/30 here, only S9 on
11780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 6070, Jan 14 at 0317, no signal from CFRX; maybe degraded
propagation, tho furthers like 6105 FRANCE are normally loud. Or maybe
off but CFRX is always at least weakly audible over night path. It is
definitely on at next check 0725 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 6000, Friday Jan 9 at 0810, algo JBA. Surely not Cuba by
now, but as in EiBi CNR1 Beijing at 0800-0900 daily except Tuesdays

** CHINA. 9535, Jan 14 at 1541, S Asian music S6/S8. It`s CRI in
Nepali this hour, 500 kW at 252 degrees from Xi`an site. Among some
other less exotic CRIs like 9660, which is Chinese via Kunming site at
20 degrees really thisaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) 

** CUBA. 5025, Jan 8 at 0724, R. Rebelde off again; something`s always 
wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11880, Jan 9 at 0814, S7 open carrier, maybe some howl.
Surely RHC failed to turn off much earlier. SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** CUBA. 11760, Jan 10 at 0223, S9+25 of deadair, the SSOB if not the
OSOB. Seems a bit of windhowl too, but have to be careful, as local
TVI on certain frequencies sounds much like that transmitted by RHC.

** CUBA. 9710, Jan 11 at 0355, RHC Spanish VG S9+20; nothing on 6000

** CUBA. 9710, Jan 12 at 0534, S7/9+10 of dead air direct, no doubt
RHC where something`s always wrong (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Jan 12 at 1955, RHC Kriyol is JBA under louder
windhowl on S9 signal direct, but clear on // 11760 also S9. Both
abruptly stop modulating at 1956 before the program really closes.
Then into Georgia SDR from 1959, 15140 is S9+25 with windhowl only,
11760, S9+5/20 dead and clear past 2004, and NO ENGLISH as supposedly
scheduled from 2000. Something`s always wrong at RHC. The same thing
happens repeatedly as if on an automatic timer (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** CUBA [and non]. 15230, Jan 13 at 1515, harmonica music from RHC,
undermodulated S8. Also // 15140 S9+20 plus SAWA windhowl, 11760 S8/S9
undermod. 11880 JBA carrier, probably something else: TWR Swaziland in

** CUBA. 11760, Jan 13 at 2315, S9+10/20 of windhowl only from RHC

** CUBA [non]. 9820, Jan 11 at 0355, S9/+10 bit of song sounds
English, so could it be R. Martí on their latest frequency? Yes, //
much stronger 7355 & 7435 and 0356 introducing a periodista; also 6030

** EL SALVADOR [and non]. 28460 USB, Jan 13 at 2300, not manysigs on
10m, but here`s a QSO, first in Spanish between YS1ZZ on the Pacific
coast, and PU5WMA in Brasil. But YS says English is OK altho his
original language is German. QRZ.com: ``YS1ZZ El Salvador flag El
Salvador, Markus Paul Pfiffner, Club Atami, La Libertad, El
Salvador``

** IRAN [non]. 13754.986, Jan 10 at 1635, R. Farda reactivated,
S8/9+10 into UTwente. From FB, Alex Miatlikov got this schedule, all
via UAE site, which correlates with typical offfrequenciness:

No jamming audible, and IIRC, strangely enough, Iran did not bother to
jam the original R. Farda. Richard Langley noted two carriers until
1414, jamming now? Nothing else scheduled. ``There are two carriers.
One at 15310 -0.8 Hz and a stronger one at +150 Hz or so.`` (Glenn

``The familiar sound of the Iranian bubble jammers was observed at my
location today on 15430 kHz at 09:10 UTC, long after Farda had signed
off this frequency. Was gone when I checked again at 09:30.

15110 kHz is noted at 10:22 with heterodyne (carrier on 15109.85 which
is subject to frequent breaks of a few seconds at a time). They seem
to be having trouble in keeping the jammer on the air.  The bubbling
sound was noted starting just before 10:30 UTC. The signal was
Dhabayya, is weak here in the U.K. so the 35 degree antenna must be
highly directional.

Back in the late 1990s a number of low power transmitters (10/20/50
kW) were installed at the Kamalabad site, presumably for jamming
purposes. The last time I heard the Iranian bubble jammers on HF was
in 2013 aimed at blocking Israel's Persian service. I expect that the
jamming equipment is kept in standby, but probably needs some
maintenance.

Farda on HF was never jammed in recent years as the programming
consisted almost entirely of popular music. The Iranian authorities
were probably of the opinion that the audience on short wave was
minimal anyway. With the current unrest in the country I would guess
that people are resorting to all possible ways of hearing the latest
news and many would be turning to short wave radio now. Alan Holder,

There's a big discussion raging on X and threads about a young Iranian
woman (based in Canada) who burns a photo of Supreme Leader Ayatollah
Khamenei and uses the flame to light her cigarette. This powerful act
of defiance — no hijab, openly challenging the regime and social
taboos — has turned her into an ICONIC FIGURE for online supporters of
the Iranian resistance and their opponents who cry that this video
shows a Jew dong that ("keyboard warriors"). She is an Iranian
feminist.  

The video (originally inspired by 2022 protests, but this version
exploded around January 9, 2026) is going massively viral right now,
with millions of views across platforms, widespread media coverage
(Daily Mail, NDTV, Euronews, Times of India, etc.), and huge

Cuuuuuuuuu!``, finally as plain XEQ. It`s 30/30 kW in CDMX. Not always

** NEW ZEALAND. 13755, Fri Jan 9 at 0816, some really weird music,
S3/S4 from the SSOB if not the OSOB, RNZP. Sked shows during this
hour: ``9:00 PM. The Wantok Program --- 30 minutes of news and current
affairs from ABC Australia from Monday to Friday in Papua New Guinea
Tok Pisin, Solomon Islands Pijin and Vanuatu Bislama pidgin

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 5140 USB, Oklahoma Operations Secure HF Net, or
something like that, fires up Wed Jan 14 at 1500; also heard Jan 7, so
apparently it`s *every* week except for holiday breaks. NCS is WPFY731
in Seminole. Making a rollcall, pronouncing every call sign twice with
fonetik letters, as I hasten to copy without recording backup, so
maybe still some errors also due to my scribble. Mostly no reply,
u.o.s.; I have to semicolon them since some quoters erase linebreaks.

From the above lineup I realize that they are called in alfabetical
order by location. I assume that when we have a real emergency, 5140

** OKLAHOMA. 95.1, Jan 8 at 0435 UT, low-power in central Enid is 
undermodulating again, Xmasmx; while I am checking for Es FM DX as 
on maps, but skipping over/beyond me (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 93.1, Jan 14 circa 2045 UT, the occasionally modulated
deadair in central? Enid is finally off the air, while 95.1 remains

** OKLAHOMA. 95.5, Jan 9 at 2007 UT, as I am in the vicinity of S
Cleveland and W OK Garriott in Enid, the LPFM transmitter is still on
the air with stereo pilot, but no music, modulating only a big hum

** PHILIPPINES. 9310, Jan 14 at 1530, USAGM in Korean via Tinang site,
VG S9+25 way over here beyond. Now it`s a half-hour M-F, same
10-minute Trumpcast thrice (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** POLAND [non]. 7570, UT Sun Jan 11 at 0406, news in English about
Ukraine, clips of Kushner et al., pronouncing Zelensky as if the L
were crossed, = ``W``, a dead giveaway to Polish accent, and indeed it
is the announcer with a distinctive voice and accent in English from
PRES as sked daily 0400-0500 on WRN. WRMI-5 7570 xmtr sked atop indeed
shows System E WRN during this hour. But the System E grid omits it
among many other frequencies this hour, instead pretending that 7570
be on System C with `Legends` this hour! Something`s odd at Okee

** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Jan 10 at 0714, JBA carrier, despite 5025
Cuba still on, presumably SIBC. Also 5040 VANUATU (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** SPAIN. If it`s Tuesday, Jan 13, there must not be English from REE
but in case it happen 24 hours later I check reception direct at 2257:
9690 JBA, 12030 & 17715 JBA carriers, 17755 JJBBA carrier (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Jan 14 at 2300, token English from REE succeeds,
S9+25/40 into Georgia SDR; 12030 for ME was earlier reported off but
JBA; while 17715 is a JBA carrier. Previews some topix including
diagnostic research. Crosstalk QRM evidently Spanish ambience we don`t
want or need, likewise continuous musical background during news
summary of the week from 2302. While the heavy accents of both
announcers are tolerable, their breakneck speed is mentally tiring.
That`s what we get for one program a week: cram into it as much as
possible. Lebanon correspondentess finished at 2320. But I`ve too much

** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 9 at 2300, JBA direct, VOT or is it China? At
2317, S9+30/40 into UTwente on 5960.002+, English about Maduro, so VOT
is not off the air, but 6CI underaudible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9660.007, Sun Jan 11 at 1741, VOT English, S9+15/25 into
UTwente, tuned in early enough this week as `Letterbox` starts
immediately after the news. First, Cemre says that 7 January was a
very special occasion, 63rd anniversary of VOT from 1963y; reaches 85
countries on SW. Come on, powerful SW transmitters can reach *every*
country sooner or later; have heard from listeners in only 85
countries over 63 years?? 1) Mr --? Albanese, Palermo, Italy, heard
Italian on 11970 - so why is he writing in English? Has not been
getting his QSLs. 2) Siddartha Papajarjee, West Bengal, how is New
Year celebrated? Big events in Istanbul. Not getting his QSLs either.
3) Jayanta Chakraborty, New Delhi, found out what Cemre name means:
heavenly warmth, arrival of spring. 44444 on 6125 - again unremarkable
that he keeps hearing the N American, not S Asian frequency at 0400.
Temp in Ankara plunged to -12 C. 4) Alan Roe, UK, enjoyed holiday
special programs such as on NYE. Is a 10-minute walk from River
Thames. 5) Anatoly Klepov, Moscow, wants another QSL. 6) David Ortiz
Martínez, García?, Nuevo León. She addresses him as Mr. Martínez
instead of Mr. Ortiz. 7) Finally, Bob Jenky?, Tomball TX. About QSL
delays, they are addressing the backlog. 1806 theme. 1807-1809,
multi-lingual ID filler reel, 1809 `Economic Diary` (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** TURKEY [non]. 5960.000, Jan 11 at 2349, only Chinese into UTwente,
S7/S9. Couldn`t be VOT on so accurate a frequency. Something`s always
erroneous at Emirler. Nor on accidentalternate 9610. Nor at a cursory

** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 13 at 2257, no signal direct from VOT English.
But it`s on at next check 2318, S9/+10 but insuff vs noise level

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.002, Wed Jan 14 at 2257, VOT IS & English
IDs, S9+25/30 into UTwente, 2300 sign-on as if it were 1330 on 13635:
something`s always awry at Ankara. But Spain`s only English broadcast
clashes so they get my attention for a while. 2354 s/off the `1330`
broadcast, 7 notes of IS before chop by 2355* uncovering much weaker
